Well, like most things involving computers, it gets a bit complicated at the programming level, so we are going to keep this to a simple and general explanation.
We are like a newstand, you can get a 'single issue' of any content at any of our sites. When you do, you tip the site, and the author. But instead of having to do a credit card process for a small amounts which leave the recipient with very little money, or subscribe for say... $20 here and $40 there, you can subscribe to CoinKitty and visit all of our sites and reward the stuff you like!
There's more...
We take care of the details at all the sites and with the authors at those sites. So you can have a single subscription to CoinKitty and a 'microsubscription' to all of our sites and their authors. Think of it as being like 'Cable TV' or 'Satellite TV' for the internet.
We track where you make your "Tip`em" choices and we send them a piece of your subscription funding, and if you are a CoinKitty MemberUser you can receive money from other CoinKitty MemberUsers for your content in return. You don't even have to own a website!
However if you do have a website you can receive money for having your site linked to CoinKitty as a MemberSite and serving our CoinKitty buttons to your visitors.
We process "Tip`em"s in a regular cycle and do our payouts 'after the fact' so that people can join and immediately give out CoinKitty "Tip`em"s however, all 'Tip'ems are funded up to the level that each MemberUser provides for, including any "Tip`em"s they may receive, so nobody can 'go in the hole' or spend money beyond what their subscription choice combined with any received "Tip`em"s might be.
We do have a rule that every CoinKitty MemberUser with a positive "Tip`em" balance must give out one "Tip`em" per month after their first two months as Members or we will process a "Tip`em" to that month's charitable foundation in their name. We will have a list up for those who would like to pick their charitable tip recipient for themselves. And we will soon offer a 'Spin-a-Tip`em" wheel where we will match up your charitable 'Tip`em" with one of ours.
So the very worst you might do is to end up donating a small amount to a charitable organization and maybe have us match your donation as well. However, there is strength in numbers, so your single "Tip`em" can become a flood!
Yes, we do take a small percentage out of the recieved "Tip`ems" for operational expenses and to make a living, but we will actually keep a very careful eye on that so that we can donate money to organizations and fund projects that we hope you will be glad to hear about.
If you haven't already... Join CoinKitty today! And if you have Thanks!
